Cello played with the bow on the bridge and with muted strings (by the left hand) / variations in bow pressure and partials of the strings (sul ponticello) / crackling rosin / recorded at very close distance with zoom h4n build in microphones.

The erhu is an chinese string instrument with two strings,which is playeda lot in china. The samples are recordings from a free vst-instrument.

Robotic voice effect using a en:vocoder. This effect is often found in film and television productions. For the technically minded, the voice is modulating a 110Hz en:sawtooth wave, which is the note A two octaves below en:A440. There is also some en:reverberation and phasing added. Took a violin bow to a chinese guzheng and the results were pretty great. Good for ambience, drones and creepy stuff. Recorded with blue spark and blue bluebird condenser mics through a scarlett 6i6 interface. Uncut with a small glue compressor to minimize spikes.
